Who We Are
The Hula Journey is the umbrella organisation for Hawaiian hula work in Aotearoa. It is the doorway where people first meet us - through classes, performances, workshops, community events and Hawaiian dance theatre productions.
The Hula Journey is the home of our two hālau:
Hālau Ka Waikahe Lani Mālie for wāhine, and
Hālau Kāhulaliwai for kāne.
Our Pupose | Ko Mākou Kuleana
Our purpose is to perpetuate and educate our students in Hawaiian culture thorugh hula, mele and oli - dance, song and chant.
Every mele has a story.
Every gesture has intention.

With the support of the Creative Communities Scheme, Kumu Hula Blaine Kamalani Kia came to Aotearoa to officially saction the first Hawaiian hālau hula in Aotearoa’s history.
